Huge New 1200m2 Gym Opens on the Costa Blanca South

A huge new gym with more than 1,200m² of training space has now opened in Lomas de Cabo Roig, becoming one of the clearest examples yet of how rapidly the Costa Blanca South is changing.

The new facility, called Limitless Gym, combines extensive indoor and outdoor workout areas with modern equipment, long opening hours and a noticeably more lifestyle-focused concept than the traditional gyms historically associated with the area.

And in many ways, the opening reflects something much bigger than fitness alone.

It is another sign of the gradual transformation currently taking place across Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja, a shift away from the old image of the Costa Blanca as simply a low-cost holiday destination and towards something more international, modern and increasingly wellness-oriented.

The Costa Blanca Is Changing

For decades, large parts of the Costa Blanca South were defined by budget tourism.

Cheap bars, fried breakfasts, low-cost package holidays and ageing urbanisations formed much of the region’s identity for northern European visitors.

But over the last five to ten years, a very different type of Costa Blanca has slowly started to emerge.

Across Orihuela Costa, La Zenia, Villamartín and Torrevieja there has been a visible increase in:

  • premium gyms
  • padel clubs
  • wine bars
  • boutique cafés
  • healthier restaurant concepts
  • wellness clinics
  • modern residential developments

At the same time, rising property prices and continued international demand have brought significantly more wealth and investment into the area.

The opening of Limitless Gym feels very much part of that broader evolution.

More Than 1,000 Members Within Weeks

The response to the gym has already been significant.

Just weeks after opening, Limitless Gym reportedly already has well over 1,000 members, a figure that underlines both the demand for modern fitness facilities and the changing demographics of the area itself.

Many residents have been drawn by:

  • the large and modern layout
  • extensive equipment offering
  • friendly atmosphere
  • long opening hours
  • indoor and outdoor training environments

The gym features dedicated areas for free weights alongside a large range of resistance and cardio machines.

Outside, the concept becomes even more distinctive for the area.

Members have access to outdoor training zones including:

  • functional fitness areas
  • abdominal training stations
  • yoga and pilates spaces
  • crossfit-style workout areas
  • additional outdoor gym equipment

The result feels notably more aligned with the kind of lifestyle-led fitness concepts increasingly common in cities such as Marbella, Barcelona or Dubai rather than the traditional gyms the Costa Blanca South was once known for.

Wellness Is Becoming Part of the Region’s Identity

Perhaps the most interesting part of the story is what openings like this say about the future direction of the Costa Blanca South.

Wellness is no longer a niche trend. It has become a major economic and lifestyle sector influencing everything from tourism and hospitality to real estate and urban development.

The explosion in padel clubs across the coastline over recent years already hinted at this shift. Now gyms, recovery spaces, wellness clinics and fitness-focused communities are beginning to play a larger role in shaping the identity of the area.

Increasing infrastructure investment from both Torrevieja and Orihuela Town Hall is also helping accelerate that transformation, with improvements to roads, public spaces and wider amenities contributing to a more modern and internationally attractive environment.

A New Generation of Residents

The demographic profile of the Costa Blanca South is changing too.

Alongside retirees and traditional holiday-home owners, the region is increasingly attracting:

  • younger international buyers
  • remote workers
  • entrepreneurs
  • lifestyle investors
  • health-conscious residents

These buyers are looking for something very different from previous generations.

For them, quality gyms, wellness services, good restaurants and modern lifestyle infrastructure are not luxury extras, they are expected parts of everyday life.

And businesses are beginning to respond accordingly.

Costa Blanca 2.0

Limitless Gym may only be one opening, but it represents a broader trend.

The Costa Blanca South is gradually moving away from its old image built purely around affordability and mass tourism.

In its place, a new version of the coastline is emerging, one increasingly centred around lifestyle, wellness, sport and higher-quality living.
