La Hoya in Torrevieja: 30 Years in the Making, Now Ready to Transform the City

Back in the 1990s, the city of Torrevieja began discussing a bold vision: the creation of an entirely new district on the edge of town. Decades later, that vision is finally becoming reality. La Hoya, a vast new development area  in Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca, is now underway — and with it, one of the most ambitious urban transformations in southern Spain.

A Plan Decades in the Making

La Hoya is no ordinary housing development. It is a completely new Torrevieja district designed from scratch. Covering 1,830,000 m² of land, it will eventually contain 7,400 brand new properties. To make it viable, massive investment in infrastructure is already in motion:

  • A storm tank with 50,000-litre capacity to manage water efficiently.

  • Three plots reserved by the town hall for schools, ensuring the area can serve families from day one.

  • New roads, services, and green spaces that will tie La Hoya seamlessly into the fabric of Torrevieja.

What’s Already Happening

After years of waiting, the first cranes are on site. Two projects have already launched: one with key-ready apartments and another with attractive off-plan opportunities. Several other developers, each holding land in La Hoya, are expected to bring more projects to market in the near future.

What makes this especially appealing is that many of the new properties will enjoy sweeping views of Torrevieja’s famous salt lakes, a unique natural backdrop that adds both beauty and value.

The two projects that have been launched so far are being built by TM and Duly Investment. You can find more information on the projects below:

Risks and Rewards

Like any large-scale urban expansion, La Hoya comes with its challenges. Buyers should expect years of construction activity as the district grows, and it will take time before the full set of services, shops, and community life are in place.

But history shows that those who move in first often reap the biggest rewards. Early buyers benefit from competitive launch prices, and as the area matures, their investment typically grows alongside the neighborhood.

Why La Hoya Stands Out

What sets La Hoya apart from other parts of Torrevieja is its fresh start. Unlike older areas where new builds sit beside decades-old housing, this will be a 100% modern district with cutting-edge facilities, communal areas, and a cohesive design. From pools and sports areas to landscaped gardens and playgrounds, the lifestyle offering will be unmatched.

The Bottom Line

La Hoya has been 30 years in the making, but now it is finally taking shape. With thousands of properties planned, new infrastructure already underway, and stunning natural views, it represents not just another housing project but the birth of a new Torrevieja neighborhood.

For investors and buyers willing to get in early, La Hoya could well prove to be the blockbuster opportunity the Costa Blanca has been waiting for.
